About MyMedicare

MyMedicare is a program introduced by the Australian Government to provide patients with more personalised and coordinated healthcare. It allows you to formally register with a specific general practice and a preferred GP of your choice, helping to strengthen your ongoing relationship with your healthcare team.

By registering with MyMedicare, you’re letting the healthcare system know which practice and GP provide your primary care.
This helps to ensure that you receive continuous, tailored care, especially if you have ongoing health needs, a chronic condition, or complex medical issues.
Why register with MyMedicare?
-
Better Continuity of Care:
With a regular GP and practice, your healthcare team gets to know you better, including your medical history, lifestyle, and personal preferences. This helps them provide care that’s more suited to your individual needs.
-
Prioritised Access for Eligible Patients:
If you are an older person, someone with chronic health conditions, or have high healthcare needs, MyMedicare can help you access specific services and programs more easily.
-
Improved Access to Telehealth Services:
Depending on your needs, MyMedicare practices may provide enhanced options for virtual consultations.
-
Support for Coordinated Care:
If you see multiple healthcare providers, MyMedicare ensures they are all on the same page, improving communication and reducing duplication of tests or treatments.
